Learning to manage stress

2014:
I'm a big stresshead. I stress very easily and worry about everyone. As school got tougher and I had 23 GCSE exams to worry about, I had to learn to control and deal with my stress levels to enable me to actually function!

The best way that I learnt to deal with it was to stay as organised as possible. I bought these cardboard containers to keep my different school stuff contained and labelled them with the subject titles so that it was easy to pull one out whenever I needed to revise. I also kept my exam timetable pinned to my wall so that I didn't get mixed up with which subject came next!

I also learnt to think about each day separately and not worry about the next few weeks. This helps to keep stress levels down because it is a lot less overwhelming!

2016:
Wow... I started this blog many years ago and I'm now in university. I think it's safe to say I learned how to manage stress reasonably well- eventually. I revised a lot for GCSEs thinking that they were the most important exams of my life, and did well. But no one really prepared me for how difficult AS Levels are.

Year 12 was a struggle. I moved to three different colleges within two weeks because the first two were far too strict and my anxious brain could not handle it at the time. The third one seemed perfect though. My best friend was there, which helped a lot, but I also forced myself to not be shy and talk to lots of people in my lessons. By doing this I met many new friends and my boyfriend who I'm still with now! This side of college was excellent but the jump from GCSE to A Level was extreme. I revised from September to June but put far too much pressure on myself. I was commuting for an hour each way and doing 11 hour days, to then come home and revise for at least an hour each night. This eventually caught up on me and the morning before my chemistry exam I collapsed. As I did so I bashed my head onto the corner of a wardrobe and frightened my poor mum quite a bit. When I came back to consciousness I encouraged her that everything was okay but due to the knock of my head and the amount of blood everywhere- she called 999. I was taken to hospital and therefore missed my exam that day; I was devastated.

After this however, I finally learned that rest time is essential. I went to see Ariana Grande perform just two days after this incident and really let loose, singing my heart out, and then finished my exams shortly afterwards. That summer I spent the majority of my time in the wonderful city of Liverpool with my boyfriend and friends, having bbq's and sleepovers and the most wonderful beach day.

Year 13 was much, much better. Every Saturday up until April I had a day off and made sure to plan something fun, like going shopping or to the museums or a trip to the beach. I completed all of my exams including the year 12 ones that I missed, and got AAB, making it into medical school. Results day left me and my wonderful mum elated. I still put pressure on myself, but the panic attacks reduced a lot in regularity, and I got higher than the results I needed.

Now I'm at university, cooking, washing, cleaning, and most importantly learning so much. Studying medicine is so inspiring and to have a foundation year gives me a chance to ease myself in to a big change. I miss my family, my boyfriend, and my best friends. But I've made a group of girl friends who are amazing, and we all look after each other to the best of our abilities. I have exams coming up in two weeks, so there will be an update on how I managed to handle my stress and panic then. But, so far, so good. In the words of Laurie Hernandez- I got this.

Summer fashion

I love summer fashion because I'm a girly girl and it's a chance to let that shine through. Skirts, dresses, frills, pastels- ahhhh.

I've recently purchased three tops that I absolutely adore, and can style with many different things! I'm a big lover of denim, so have been styling these tops with denim shorts or a denim skirt.
I particularly love the way these two colours go together. I think that the coral and denim gel together beautifully. I also adore the pretty white collar and the matching cute buttons on this piece, it really allows me to portray my cute side!

This floral cami has so much detail and is absolutely perfect. I like the lacey floral overlay at the top as I think it's very delicate.
My last favourite top is this pastel pink cami. It has a beautiful floral pattern all over it and has a very interesting triangular shape at the bottom, which shows a tiny bit of stomach!

I really love all of these pieces and have worn them a lot over summer. As much as I love these clothes, I'm really looking forward to being all cosy in burgundy scarves and oversized jumpers! Fall and winter clothing can be just as fun to style and I think I'm almost ready for that change... But can we have a little more sun first?

Ariana Grande

This fabulous woman is my absolute inspiration, not only in music, but in everyday life!

Not only is she absolutely gorgeous, but I love her style so much, and she has definitely helped me to find my own style. She's girly and pretty but classy at the same time and it suits her perfectly

I also love the way she holds herself as a young woman. She is content, and relaxed but still bubbly and respectful of the people around her.

I alos admire the way she can act and sing! Her music is my favourite and I love that she has the sweet romantic side mixed with a badass bitch when she needs to be :')! She has influenced my music taste so much and I hope to see her live soon. Her voice is special and pure and I love it.

Finally, I love the dedication and hard work ethic she has. It may have taken years but she has worked to make Yours Truly absolutely perfect for her fans and I can really relate to that because I'm an absolute perfectionist!

I love this young woman so much and her music has cured many hours of boredom and inspired me to concentrate on my singing. I can't wait to hear her new album :D

Burst of Colour

I have recently purchased a Rimmel London "Lasting Finish Colour Rush"  in 600 "On Fire". It is a deep pink pop of colour; very bright and perfect for summer!
I wouldn't usually go for such a bright colour but it really makes a difference to my face. It could brighten up any lips and is very moisturising. It also stayed put for 8 hours without fading- amazing!
I've been looking for a new colour for a long time and this was the perfect buy! Xxx

The Next Journey

After four days in LA, we travelled to San Francisco! It's a really beautiful state with lots and lots of culture- so much it was a little overwhelming for me.

We stayed in a hotel right next to Pier 39. I loved this Pier as it had lots of cute little shops to buy presents for the loved ones waiting at home!
We took a tour of San Francisco- this the most crooked street in the world Lombard Street.
This is one of the best pictures I have ever taken- a beautiful view over all of the state.
On the tour, we stopped off at the famous Golden Gate Bridge!
We had a tour of the prison- Alcatraz. It was creepy but also amazing to see and hear such raw and shocking things. This is a view inside one of the cells! I would definitely reccomend taking the opportunity to do this if you ever go to San Francisco, as it is an experience I'll never forget.
The prison had a gorgeous view of the state- which must have been devastating for the prisoners!
I thoroughly enjoyed this trip, and I'm so lucky to have experienced all of this at such a young age. I hope you have enjoyed reading this as much as I have loved documenting it in this blog! Xxx

California Dreamin'

Last year, I took a trip to California with some friends, and I can honestly say it was one of the best weeks of my life. My only problem was my separation anxiety meant that I was very very homesick, but I pushed past that and had a brilliant time!
We hopped off the plane at LAX, as Miley Cyrus would say ;)
I was mesmirised as I walked down the streets of LA. It just felt unreal to experience such culture at a young age. The weather was gorgeous and we all had a fabulous night bowling... Until we started to fall asleep in a diner, as we'd been up for 36 hours!
After a well needed night's sleep, we headed to Universal Studios in Hollywood. My friends and I decided to buy fast passes, so we went on every ride! It was great. I'm not a big rollercoaster lover, but a lot of the attractions in this theme park are stimulated, so it was perfect for me!
The Studio Tour was a breath taking experience. Fire, water, plane crashes, sharks... Exciting!!
I did try one roller coaster- The Mummy Ride. It was fun and had lots of cool lighting effects. I'm glad I went on it because I can say I have been to every single attraction in Universal Studios Hollywood.
We also went to the Universal City Walk at night time. Where I sat with my  best friend eating Taco Bell, watching One Direction on a huge screen- great moment.

The next day, we went to the Hollywood Walk of Fame! I took pictures of almost all of the stars, but here are some of my faves...
Then we took a walk down the beautiful Santa Monica Pier, followed by a walk to Venice Beach. This was probably my favourite part of the whole holiday- I LOVE beaches!

It was all very very beautiful.

Finally, we went to Rodeo Drive. It was very posh! My friends were in designer heaven, as they are all big designer lovers. We went to places like Chanel and spent hours enviously looking at all of the things we knew we couldn't afford- it doesn't sound it, but it was fun.
This trip was amazing, and it was so lovely to be able to spend it with some of my best friends- even if I did miss my family! We also went to San Francisco, but I'll leave that for another post. Please feel free to tell me any of your fun stories of the past :) xxx

Classy Hair Style

I recently attended a Christening, and decided to try a more sophisticated look with my hair. I went for a side bun, as I think it is quite different and unique. I made it even more unique by rolling one the left side of my hair into the bun, and plaiting the right side of my hair into the bun. I recieved many compliments throughout the day and liked the hairstyle because it was out of my face and felt comfortable.
Here's the back, you can see the right side plaited.

Then the left side, which I rolled away from my face before clipping it with some bobby pins.

If any of you have any sophisticated or unique hairstyles, please let me know- I'd love to try them! Xxx
